Shingai Nyagweta is a fashion consultant, creative director, and founder of DSGN Native and DSGN Exchange, working at the intersection of creativity, business, and cultural context.

She currently also serves as the Creative Director of Africa Fashion Week, where she contributes to shaping platform strategy, creative direction, and industry positioning across the continent and its global audiences.

Before moving into advisory work full time, Shingai founded and ran her own clothing brand, KuNa Kids, which she built and operated for twelve years. That experience of building, sustaining, and evolving a fashion business informs her practical, grounded approach to consulting. Having navigated product cycles, brand positioning, and the realities of long term operation firsthand, she works with founders from a place of lived understanding rather than theory.

Through DSGN Native, Shingai supports fashion founders and organisations in building growth ready brands that are structurally sound, commercially viable, and designed for long term sustainability. Her work focuses on helping founders move from instinct-led decision making to clear, considered strategies that support scale without eroding brand integrity.

Shingai’s practice is shaped by deep engagement with the African fashion ecosystem, working across early stage and established brands to navigate complex markets and real operational constraints. Alongside advisory work, she contributes to strategic industry conversations and knowledge-led engagements that translate creative ambition into business clarity.
